PROGRAM:

Songversations (fortnightly Sunday 4-6pm)

WHERE IS ‘HOME’?

Valla Beach

HOW DID YOU COME TO BE LIVING IN THIS AREA?

I was desperate to get out of Sydney when I retired but wanted to find a place where there was plenty of music, interesting people and plenty of cultural activity. My daughter Jem, who was livling in the area, got me looking in Bellingen. Along the way, I discovered Valla Beach: ideally placed to dip into Bello or dip into the ocean. Very happy with my decision.

WHAT DOES YOUR PROGRAM OFFER TO LISTENERS?

A chance to “meet” an interesting person from our community and, via the songs that have meaning for them, get to know about them and their life. It’s a conversation about songs – so, Song-versations!

WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN TRIPLE B?

My daughter was presenting a show on the station when I first moved here. Also I saw OB1 (our little blue van) and decided it was the coolest thing ever and decided that if a community radio station could accessorise like that, I wanted in!

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON AIR AT TRIPLE B?

I sing and try to improve my dodgy guitar-playing skills in a band called Valla’d. Walk on the beach while listening to music and wish really hard for Roger Federer to never retire from tennis.

IF YOU WERE TO STAGE YOUR OWN FESTIVAL IN BELLO, AND COULD HAVE ANY THREE HEADLINE ACTS FROM ANYWHERE WHO WOULD THEY BE?

Todd Snider, Jackson Browne and Adam Eckersley Band.
