Wild Beat (Tuesday 9-10am)
WHERE IS ‘HOME’?:
HOW DID YOU COME TO BE LIVING IN THIS AREA?
I have spent a lot of time in the local area over the past decade for my work in the conservation movement. I have lots of friends here and an opportunity for early retirement sealed the deal for a tree change from Sydney in September 2016.
WHAT DOES YOUR PROGRAM OFFER TO LISTENERS?
A mixture of local and national natural history and science stories along with broader environmental issues. I also am a political junky so I add this to my magazine-style program.
WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN TRIPLE B?
I have always listened to radio programs that mix interesting stories and interviews with music. In my zoo and conservation career I was interviewed frequently and always thought it would be good to sit in interviewers chair! When I arrived in Bellingen it coincided with the radio training session that Kye and 2 Triple B put on, so I thought. “What the heck. Let’s give this a go!”
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON AIR AT TRIPLE B?
I am a keen gardener and bush regenerator. Both are rewarding. I also like to cook. I lecture part time at Charles Sturt University and sit on a couple of not-for-profit-boards.
IF YOU WERE TO STAGE YOUR OWN FESTIVAL IN BELLO, AND COULD HAVE ANY THREE HEADLINE ACTS WHO WOULD THEY BE?
Jeff Buckley to make me cry, Mojo Juju to inspire me and the Stereophonics to remind me of Wales.
