PROGRAM:

The Binge (Mondays 6-8pm)

WHERE IS ‘HOME’?

Bellingen

HOW DID YOU COME TO BE LIVING IN THIS AREA?

Managed to drag the fella, who is a musician, up last year. Coffs was my home in the early 2000’s, I visited Bello to attend the jazz festival and global, went swimming in the Promised Land, and filed the magic away for future reference after years of travelling. We love it.

WHAT DOES YOUR PROGRAM OFFER TO LISTENERS?

Television quality has never been better, and there are few of us who don’t love a good binge-off every now and then. There are also few of us who don’t love to spout an opinion, amiright?
I review a wide range of telly from the likes of Broad City to Cleverman to Queer Eye to Chernobyl and play associated music. I steer towards shows that represent diversity on screen and behind-the-scenes.

If I’m real lucky I have a co-host or guest who knows more than I do and we have a lot of fun!

I also spend any extra part of my air time playing music from bands that will be performing in Bellingen on the weekend, local or passing through, and from festivals or gigs i’ve just attended.

WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN TRIPLE B?

I have been listening to community radio since I kinda ‘outgrew’ youth radio about 10 years ago. I have discovered so much new music, turned up to amazing gigs spruiked by passionate specialists, heard great interviews with lesser-known yet extraordinary humans, and learned from many diverse voices: community radio peeps are usually the best company.

In particular I love ‘nerd’ shows. Not necessarily about local events, but featuring local people expressing strong feelings about pop culture who wouldn’t have a place in the commercial universe. So the chance to have my own little ‘nerd’ show on community radio in Bello, as well as supporting local bands and their music, is pretty dreamy.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON AIR AT TRIPLE B?

Binge teev! Also: mollycoddle dogs; help folks deal with personal problems getting in the way of their preferred lives as a counsellor; op shop; check out live music; get over-involved in everything; swim on beaches; laugh too loudly.

IF YOU WERE TO STAGE YOUR OWN FESTIVAL IN BELLO, WHO WOULD BE YOUR THREE HEADLINE ACTS ?

Chump Change, Gogol Bordello, The Mamas
