The Skipper (Brian Stokes)

PROGRAM:

That Year This Arvo (fortnightly Monday 4-6pm)

WHERE IS ‘HOME’:

Bello

HOW DID YOU COME TO BE LIVING IN THIS AREA?

Been coming to Bello for a long time for work and to see family, and loved the community, so moved here in 2006.

WHAT DOES YOUR PROGRAM OFFER TO LISTENERS?

A mix of music styles from a particular year (good, bad and ugly), peppered with an irreverent look at events and things of interest from that year – globally and locally. So hopefully just some simple fun and a chance to think ‘hey, that sounds familiar, but…’

WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN TRIPLE B?

A good friend shouted me a beer if I said yes. It took two drinks to bring me ‘round. It’s important local voices are heard – on both sides of the wireless, and if 2 Triple B disappears it will be nigh impossible to get it back

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON AIR AT TRIPLE B?

My job used to be to encourage people to visit the north coast. I’m only after their ears now.

IF YOU WERE TO STAGE YOUR OWN FESTIVAL IN BELLO, AND COULD HAVE ANY THREE HEADLINE ACTS WHO WOULD THEY BE?

Spike Milligan, The Ramones, That girl from ‘That Girl’ (ie: Marlo Thomas). The opportunity may have passed unfortunately.
