Like most things at the moment, the 2020 edition of the Bellingen Agricultural Show has been canceled.
Here is a statement from the show committee:
“The Bellinger River Agricultural Society Show Committee met on Tuesday 17th March and resolved that given the uncertainty surrounding the future impact of the corona virus on public health in Australia, we had no option but to cancel the 2020 Bellingen Show. This action was made in accordance with the current advice from the Federal and State Governments prohibiting non-essential gathering of more than 500 people and the likelihood that this or more severe restrictions would still be in place in May.
The Bellingen Show Committee is disappointed that we have had to take this action but recognise that it is our obligation to put the health of all our citizens first and foremost. The Bellingen Show has a history extending back almost 140 years and in that time has only been cancelled a few times, and then under exceptional circumstances. 2020 marked a period of rejuvenation for the show organising committee and while we are disappointed that the show will not be staged this year we are resolved that this important event will return in 2021 stronger and more focussed on engaging, entertaining and educating our wonderful community We thank you very much for your support during these difficult times and wish you and your family a healthy and safe year. “
