Felix Leunig & the Looming Feelings
Wuwu by Felix Leunig and the Looming Feelings is the first full-length album from the 3-piece Victorian based outfit released during the early autumn of 2025. Immediately feeling classic and timeless, Wuwu is an album that draws inspiration from the folk/rock fuelled 60s, could easily have been a smash release in the 90’s, yet remains distinctly contemporary.
Musically, Wuwu strikes a wonderful balance between warmth and grit, with the overall
production carrying a nostalgic quality whilst remaining sharp and dark. With
understated punchy drums, varied fuzzy and dry guitar tones, the
arrangement and beautifully constructed backing harmonies often delve into
the wonderful realm of psychedelia. What stands out most, however, is the
poignant and moving songwriting of Felix Leunig, where the message alternates
between political zingers, vulnerable expressions of personal experience, amongst
tongue-in-cheek comments on society as a whole. There is an expression of
underlying frustration and disillusionment with the status quo, met
with humour, dark optimism, and an intent to challenge convention with pure,
raw and honest creative expression.
